Dr. Peter Blomeyer had invited around 100 Ugandan companies to the German Residence to introduce Germany as the biggest host of trade fairs in the world. The program of the event on Monday, 6th March 2017, gave an overview on the scope of trade fairs, also offering information about visa requirement etc.

Germany is well known for its trade fairs and is hosting many of the biggest fairs in the world like the Hannover Industrial Fair (Hannover Messe), the CeBit (an IT-fair in Hanover), the ITB (a tourism fair in Berlin), the Green Week (an agricultural fair in Berlin) and ReTEC (a used machinery trade fair in Augsburg) among many others. There is literally a specialized trade fair for every sector and subsector.
However, only a small number of Ugandan companies travelled to Germany in the past years to visit these trade fairs. As trade fairs are the most valuable event for companies seeking trade partners, promoting their products and making valuable contacts, the German Embassy wanted to highlight this possibility of opening access to the world market.
