Dr Albrecht Conze, Ambassador of Germany, giving his speech

We celebrate in Kampala because Europe’s development is important for Uganda’s development. Because Europe must quickly re-ascertain its place in the world. The Ambassador's Speech at the Peace and Reconciliation Award Ceremony - Élysée Treaty Commemoration

Jan 22, 2017 | German Embassy Kampala
German Ambassador's speech

The German-French reconciliation is the result of an enormous collective effort to overcome the enmity between our peoples passed on by our ancestors. It needed indefinitely more strength and courage to confront the old stereotype bogeymen than to cultivate them. But our example shows that it is possible. We can reject the heritage of our parents and grandparents if it is evil and destructive. (...) We can shake them off and reshape our relationships. And this is a message we deem worthwhile to deliver elsewhere, and this is why we invited you today.

Jul 30, 2016 | German Embassy Kampala
Kooki Community Hospital Opening

I am very happy that the Kooki Community Hospital is a successful example of public-private partnership between the Government of Uganda and the NGO ToRuDeS – Together Rural Development Solidarity. With the help of the German Government and the German NGO partner “Together” the Ugandan NGO “ToRuDeS” built this health station in Kooki and will operate it. As a next step the Ugandan Ministry of health will provide for medical staff and medication. I am sure, that this kind of partnership might serve as a model for the construction of further hospitals in the whole of Uganda.
