Day of German Unity Celebrations

The German Embassy celebrated the German National Day on 12th October 2017 at the Residence of the Ambassador, Dr. Albrecht Conze. This year, too, it was an extraordinary event: We celebrated 27 years of German Unity and commemorated the 500th anniversary of the start of the Reformation movement. Part of the Day of German Unity Celebration therefore was an exhibition focusing on the ideas of the reformation movement and developments and inventions of that time that still impact on our lives today. Hon. Minister of the Local Government, Tom Butime, was the event’s Guest of Honour.
Furthermore the German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development cooperation graced the event which coincides with a 3 day visit of the minister and an 8 member delegation to Uganda. The visit of the minister focused on the refugee situation and on the topic of food security in the country. During his stay the minister visited refugee settlements and host communities in West Nile and held political talks with the President of the Republic of Uganda, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, and members of the Ugandan Government in Kampala.
