Study opportunities in East Africa, Scholarships for LLM and PhD studies offered
The Tanzanian-German Centre for Postgraduate Studies in Law (TGCL) offers aspiring lawyers and law students a structured LLM and PhD study programme with the goal of qualifying them for leading positions in East Africa
Every year the TGCL is awarding scholarships also funded by the DAAD and the German Foreign Office for postgraduate studies in various legal fields. These scholarships are granted to candidates from East African Community (EAC) Partner States (i.e. Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda) and most recently also to students from South-Sudan. The programme is conducted at the University of Dar es Salaam School of Law (Formerly Faculty of Law), in close cooperation with the Institute of African Studies and the Faculty of Law, Business Administration and Economics, University of Bayreuth. TGCL is one of five centres established in Africa under the name “African Excellence – Fachzentren zur Eliteförderung”, funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the German Foreign Office.
