To facilitate your travel arrangements, the German Embassy has summarized all relevant information and necessary requirements for long term visa applications for the Federal Republic of Germany. Please make certain to review the requirements carefully and adhere to them, as this will save you valuable time and effort throughout the visa application process. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

If you would like to apply for a long term visa and the purpose of your application is not listed below, please contact the visa section of the German Embassy for the specific requirements and procedure that applies (see contact details in the right column).

Please note: The German Embassy can only accept applications if you have lived in Uganda or South Sudan for more than 6 months with a valid residence permit. If this is not the case you are not eligible to apply. In that case your appointment will be deleted.

Visa Fees


The fee for a Schengen Visa is 60.00 Euro, payable cash in Uganda Shilling at the current exchange rate of the German Embassy. Reductions of fees as well as exemptions from the visa fee are possible for certain types of visas.
